Scooter Helmets

A scooter helmet is the type of helmet that you wear when you are riding a scooter, or even a moped or motorcycle. Some consider it very similar to a bicycle helmet, because the two types of transportation are very similar themselves in many ways; at least the non-motorized version of the scooters. For one, they can travel at about the same speed. And two, they travel on the same basic types of terrain.

For this reason, scooter accidents are basically similar to bike accidents, which means that helmets for one could possibly interchange to someone riding the other. However, it is also important to note that scooter helmets are made especially to protect you while riding a scooter… so this is what you should wear when riding a motor scooter.

Electric motor scooters are a little bit different then regular non-motorized scooters. They move faster, are a bit more dangerous when it comes to accidents, and require a more sturdy type of helmet. Actually, a lot of electric motor, or even gas powered scooters require helmets that are like motorcycle helmets. That is because gas powered scooters and some electric motor scooters are more like motorcycles than bicycles, and so they require a helmet like it.

If you are planning on buying a new scooter helmet so that you can ride your scooter in safety, then there are a couple of things you should think about. First of all, are you buying a scooter helmet for a guy or a girl? It makes a difference, especially on adults.

A full grown man will usually wear a different size than a girl or a woman. Usually, a woman’s scooter helmet will be smaller. There are some helmets that are different, and are made for either men or women’s use, and if you are interested in these then they can be found on some websites. They are also different cosmetically. For example, a girl’s helmet may be pink while a guy’s helmet may be blue, etc.

Another thing to think about when buying a scooter helmet is whether you are buying for a child or an adult. This is a pretty self-explanatory difference, and buying for a child requires buying a child’s size. Children are usually not operating gas powered scooters, but they still should wear a helmet even if they are just riding along. In fact, this is the law in most places… and if you do not wear a helmet you can get in trouble, and kids aren't even allowed on motor scooter in many locations (and for good reason!).

But the most important thing about scooter and moped helmets is that you wear them! You may not wreck very often, but if you do, then a helmet could very well save your life! Wearing a motor scooter helmet (or a motorcycle helmet, if that's what you're riding) when you ride is one of the smartest things that you can do.

Not only will it keep you safer, but you can ride with a better sense of security if you are wearing one. Some people don’t like to wear them because they say they don't look cool in them… but this is definitely not the case.  It is nothing but purely intelligent to wear a helmet when you ride… and it can even be stylish too!
